youngest of 4 girls, and a resident of the Pasadena area for over 25 years. Bessie's opened their doors on November 6, 2006.

This establishment is in honor of Helga’s mother Bessie, who taught her the 50 year old taco recipe. Bessie’s
Tacos aren’t just good, they are good for you. BDST’s features home-style tacos made without the mystery meat.
Each bite is full of flavorful (soulful) extra lean ground beef or ground chicken breast which is what makes BDST’s
the best. BDST serves Tacos, Nachos, Salads, New York Style Buffalo Wings and Boss Wings, Sock-It-To-Me Cup Cakes and more.
Breakfast includes pancakes, grits, bacon, sausage, breakfast burritos and breakfast tacos.
The décor of the restaurant is warm, with pictures of Helga’s family on the walls. Taken by her uncle, they provide
a window into Helga’s family and invite us to share in their joys and sorrows. They are moments in time captured by
the camera and displayed for us to appreciate. The music is part of the décor and keeps Bessie’s spirit alive.

ABOUT THE OWNER:
Helga Kuhn, owner of BESSIE’S DAUGHTER’S SOULFUL TACOS, previously worked for EarthLink as an event planner, and
has created and launched over 300 events nationwide. She was recently featured in one of EarthLink’s most run commercials
on cable. Helga also worked for the City of Pasadena for 10 years before opening her first restaurant.
